Fair and equitable

To ensure an employee with disability’s performance is evaluated fairly and equitable access to opportunity is provided, the following should be considered:

Ensure

  • Ensure employees are not excluded from projects, skills training and leadership opportunities based on their disability.

  • Ensure the location of the conversation is accessible.

  • Ensure performance evaluation is not impacted by adjustments that have been put into place.

  • When discussing performance issues, ensure the conversation refers to the expected outcome to be delivered, and not on the individual’s disability or function.

Allow

  • Allow extra time during the performance conversation as well as beforehand to assist the person to prepare.


Provide

  • Provide any written materials in an accessible format.
